Jillian Tattersall

About

Jillian Tattersall is a Senior Employment Litigation Associate who has spent over two decades fighting for employees facing discrimination, wrongful termination, hostile work environments, and other workplace injustices while also building a distinctive practice at the intersection of employment law and whistleblower protection for finance industry workers. She brings a tenacious, client-centered approach to every matter, understanding the profound toll workplace misconduct takes on people's lives and livelihoods, and she works relentlessly to secure the justice and compensation her clients deserve.

Jillian manages complex litigation from inception through appeal, appearing before state and federal courts, administrative agencies, and in alternative dispute resolution forums nationwide. Her practice spans beyond employment discrimination claims, as she has brought whistleblower actions under both New York and federal law, including claims brought under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) and the Dodd-Frank Act. She has represented whistleblowers in FINRA arbitration forums and has deep experience with the compliance and disclosure obligations facing employees in the financial services industry.

Beyond litigation, Jillian has served as General Counsel to one of Chicago's largest nonprofit dance organizations, where she has drafted governing bylaws, secured 501(c)(3) reinstatement, and advised on employment practices, insurance, and intellectual property - experience that has deepened her understanding of organizational compliance and workplace policy from the inside. She has also served on the Board of Directors of a leading Chicago tap dance company, advising on governance and employment best practices. She received a Dedication and Service Award for her commitment to supporting nonprofit arts organizations. She has also advocated for clients in matters ranging from probate to national security clearance proceedings.

Education

Jillian earned her J.D. from Harvard Law School, where she served as Managing Editor of the BlackLetter Law Journal, and holds a B.A., magna cum laude, from The George Washington University, with Special Honors in Psychology and Criminal Justice.
