Maxwell Popkin
About
Maxwell Popkin is an Associate Attorney at Phillips & Associates, PLLC, where he represents employees in matters involving workplace discrimination, retaliation, sexual harassment, whistleblower claims, and wage-and-hour violations. His passion for employment law began during law school, when he first took Employee Relations and Anti-Discrimination courses and interned at a boutique employment law firm with offices in New York and Connecticut. Mr. Popkin continued working at this employment and labor law firm until joining Phillips & Associates.
At his previous firm, Mr. Popkin represented both individual plaintiffs and classes of plaintiffs, as well as small businesses. This dual experience provided him with a broad perspective and a comprehensive understanding of both sides of employment disputes. However, handling both plaintiff and defense work ultimately reinforced his commitment to advocating exclusively on behalf of individuals.
Mr. Popkin has developed a broad range of litigation and negotiation skills across all phases of employment matters. His experience includes negotiating severance packages for high-level executives, drafting motions and reviewing discovery materials, preparing clients and witnesses for depositions, and effectively communicating legal claims. Mr. Popkin’s approach combines strong client communication with thoughtful strategy and practical execution.
Mr. Popkin earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from New York Law School, where he served as a writer for the International In-House Counsel Journal and was an active member of the Sports Law Society. He also graduated cum laude from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a minor in Real Estate.
Mr. Popkin is admitted to practice law in New York, Florida, and Connecticut
