Mr. Zugaro graduated from St. John’s University in Queens, New York with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. In college, he was recognized for his academic excellence with a place in the Greek Organization Honor Society and Dean’s List.
In 2015, Mr. Zugaro received his Juris Doctor from Pace University School of Law in White Plains, New York. He graduated cum laude and received many honors and recognitions. During that work, he interviewed police officer witnesses for the Early Case Assessment Bureau, researched and drafted memoranda on legal issues relating to evidentiary and search and seizure issues, and served as second seat on various court proceeding including arraignments and calendar parts.
Mr. Zugaro became an experienced and skillful trial lawyer while working as an Assistant District Attorney for the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office from 2015 – 2019. He tried numerous cases to verdict; he handled both jury and non-jury trials and prosecuted more than 350 cases from inception through grand jury presentation, motion practice, hearings, trial and disposition and presented felony cases to Grand Juries for indictment. As part of his representation of clients, he prepared and examined cooperative witnesses, including police officers, investigators, analysts, expert witnesses and laypeople. He also researched and drafted pretrial motions, felony complaints, search warrants, and subpoenas.
Before joining Phillips & Associates, Mr. Zugaro served as an associate attorney with the insurance fraud practice group of a New York law firm. In that position, he managed more than 500 cases from inception through trial. This included work drafting pleadings, legal memoranda, and discovery demands and responses. He also conducted many depositions of medical professionals and other witnesses and gained valuable experience appearing in New York State court and in arbitration proceedings on dispositive motions that resulted in favorable awards for clients. He successfully negotiated settlements.
In his spare time. Mr. Zugaro enjoys finishing, weight training, soccer, and football.
